Mazarron and surroundings

We had a lovely drive out on Sunday 22nd, visiting Mazarron, Bolneuvo and the surrounding area beyond Cartagena.

Along the coast at Isla Plana

Sunshine greeted us as we woke so we thought, an ideal day to go sightseeing. With a packed lunch and drink off we headed through Cartagena and out through the mountains beyond. With many almond trees in full blossom the scenery was lovely and we visited a couple of campsites for future use perhaps before ending up at Bolneuvo near Mazarron port.

Here there are some strange rocks that have been carved naturally by wind and rain action to give the shapes they are today. We had actually visited here a number of years ago when staying with friends but had not remembered it until we saw them again.

On the day after we drove to the top of the La Manga strip to see the unusual bridge at its end. We've no idea why it was built like this but just like the shape. The great challenge is to ride a bicycle over it.

On our way home we stopped at Cabo de Palos harbour for coffee and tostados

Not a bad spot for coffee.
