Flamingos at La Manga

Went to Cabo de Palos on Saturday and coming home saw flamingos in the nearby salina. Altogether I counted nine but only three in a group.

A Salina is a shallow lagoon that is flooded with sea water which is then left to evaporate. When all the water has gone the salt left behind is harvested. Due to the shallow, warm water shrimps grow well providing food for many birds including the flamingoes.

It's lovely to see them in the wild.
